Revisiting my MLB picks (from February):
MLB Picks:
AL West: Anaheim Angels
AL Central: Kansas City Royals
AL East: NY Yankees
Wildcard: Boston Red Sox
NL West: SF Giants
NL Central: Chicago Cubs
NL East: Phillies
NL Wildcard: Houston Astros
Yes, I was smoking crack that day. Yankees and Red Sox were the only accurate calls. Anaheim might pull it out, but the As look good. Same with the NL Wildcard, Houston is in a tight race with SF, Chicago, and Florida for that final spot.
I still feel that if the Cubs make the Wildcard spot, that they will be pretty dangerous in the playoffs. Zambrano, Prior, Wood and Maddux cannot be underestimated. They will also have Clement and Rusch pitching long relief which helps in the bullpen. Hawkins hasn't convinced me, but the few games I've seen him close on WGN, he's pitched well. He struck out the side in the 9th this past Saturday. Go Cubbies!
